Vision and Values
Our vision captures what we wish to provide and achieve as a school.
Our values are the key characteristics which we wish to instill in the children.
Our curriculum drivers are used to underpin the direction and development of all areas of school life and to ensure our curriculum is enriched and personalised in order to meet the needs, interests and ambitions of our children.
Vision
At Kingshill, we aim: to prepare children for a life full of learning.
Our vision is to empower our children, through equity, to acquire, demonstrate, articulate and value knowledge and skills that will prepare them for a life full of learning. We want our children to go on to participate in and contribute positively to the world and practise our core values: Respect, Hard-working and Teamwork.
We prepare children for a life full of learning by:
- Inspiring a love of learning, celebrating every child’s progress and achievement.
- Building strong foundations, moving as quickly as children can and as slowly as they need.
- Putting reading at the heart of everything we do, so that every child learns to read.
- Having high expectations for every child, in their learning, attitude and progress.
- Giving every child a voice, developing their oracy, confidence and ability to participate fully in learning.
- Providing a curriculum that is coherent, connected and cumulative, building knowledge and understanding over time.
- Building warm, trusted relationships, where children feel known, valued, nurtured and cared for.
- Providing expert teaching, with the right adaptations and support so that every child can access and succeed in the curriculum.
Values
Values are key to character development and not only need to be taught but caught and practised. Our programme of values education is highly significant from the very start of a child’s schooling. Our core values of hard-working, respect and teamwork permeate all that we do. From the moment a student arrives at Kingshill Infant School, we encourage them to live these values.
Hard-working
We never give up. We remain positive so that we have the strength to persevere with even the most challenging tasks. We do what it takes for as long as it takes and we learn from mistakes. We are resilient, determined and dedicated to what we do.
Respect
We respect everyone for who they are. We are inclusive and believe in equity as well as equality. We think highly of our school and its community and show this through our actions. We are polite and courteous at all times. We are honest and considerate, we own-up to our mistakes. We don’t take advantage of others and helping a member of our team is helping ourselves.
Teamwork
We collaborate harmoniously with each other and other schools. We are willing to liaise and share. We avoid conflict through dialogue. We support each other and the school, remaining positive at all times. The relationships that we build are positive and built upon mutual respect. We are always kind and supportive.
Our Curriculum Drivers are:
- Vocabulary: to ensure our pupils can communicate effectively, using language effectively and ambitiously.
- Opportunities and Possibilities: to raise aspirations and broaden horizons by showing curiosity and fearlessness about what is new or unknown.
- Independence: to ensure our pupils start to develop the life skills necessary to work with growing independence and perseverance and to develop a commitment to learning and self-improvement.
