Reception Home Learning Autumn 2020
Overview of Autumn Term in Reception
The children have settled well into Reception and we have enjoyed getting to know our new families at Kingshill.
What a busy term we have had! The children have done some amazing learning and have demonstrated some of our IEYC personal learning goals such as resilience, communication and co-operation.
Our IEYC theme this term has been ‘This Is Me!’ In this theme the children have been learning about how they are the same/different, finding out about their families and looking at homes. They have also had fun learning new things with our mini themes such as Harvest, Guy Fawkes Night and Diwali.
In Literacy the children have been learning to blend and segment sounds and read simple words and sentences. We have been focusing on Phase 2 and 3 phonemes in ‘Letters and Sounds’ sessions. They have written lists and labels and are beginning to write simple sentences.
In number, the children have been working on recognising numbers to 10 and beyond, finding 1 more or 1 less and are beginning to use the vocabulary involved in addition. In shape, space and measure we have focused on length, 2D and 3D shapes and creating repeating patterns.
There has also been lots of learning in the areas of Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Communication and Language, Physical Development, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design.
The children especially enjoyed our ‘Planet Patrol’ days and are looking forward to harvesting the garlic they planted in ‘Vegetable Island!’
We have included some photos below showing examples of what the children have achieved.
The Reception team would like to thank you for your support this term and wish you all a wonderful Christmas.
We look forward to seeing you all in 2021!
